Regional Innovation

We explore Korean-style Community Wealth Building(CWB), which is in the new spotlight as an alternative regional economic strategy to solve the problems of population decline, hyper-aging, regional extinction crisis, concentration, and inequality in the metropolitan area.

Also, we organize a local government leaders' group called the 'Mokmin-guan Club' and facilitate their research and networking. The club deals with issues such as responding to regional extinction, urban regeneration and village creation, revitalizing the regional economy, expanding the social economy, participation and governance, responding to the climate crisis and the role of local government, single-person households and social isolation, and building community wealth(CWB).

Social Innovation

We are leveraging social innovation to voice out for ordinary people to create a more equal and just society. We collaborate with public, private, and civil partners to propose innovative research and practical actions that empower people.

To promote social innovation, we hold the Social Investors Relations(SIR) competition every year. Its goal is to not only connect people who create public impact, but also to identify investment potential in social value based models beyond financial value based-models.

We connect resources and regions across the boundaries of cities and rural areas, for-profit and non-profit sectors, as well as between local communities and immigrants. In line with this vision, we discover ‘Social Designers’ who solve community problems and create impact in many different ways such as social ventures, social enterprises, cooperatives, and corporations. We also created the ‘Social Designer Club’, a gathering of social designers, to make communities connected.

Social Designer X Locality X Impact

“Social designers solve local problems.”

Citizen Participation

We aim to be practical. We get out of the office, not hiding behind our desks, because it gives us a richer sense of what is important for people and what works in practice. Participatory programs in the Hope Institute include citizenship education programs and designing action plan programs for all generations.

Donation is one of the main sources of income of the Hope Institute.

By supporting us through donation, you can help us continue to foster citizen leadership based on sustainable values and to provide an independent space to tackle critical social issues.
